A Bio-psycho-social Treatment Approach: Nov 2013 - Mar 2014

Presented by: Dr John Booth, Katie Commins

This ongoing professional development day is concerned with developing clinical skills concerning the assessment, treatment and management of patients with persisting pain. There is a focus on patient assessment to identify the primary organic and nonorganic factors contributing to the patient's pain and disability. Competency with the assessment is critical to clinical reasoning regards decisions about the treatment approach specific to each patient. Developing the participant’s competency with patient assessment and integrating exercise, movement and other strategies to treat and manage patients with persisting pain are the key learning objectives.

Participants will be required to prepare for a case study tutorial (CST) on persisting pain which involves reading and emailing short responses to several questions on the CST before their attendance on the professional development day.
